Anti crime workshop - theatre in education

Newfound Theatre have made a recent partnership with Re-Formed to deliver Crime & Concequence workshops to young people.

Together we will use forum theatre and various workshop techniques to get the message across that crime does not pay. We understand that there are various pressures on young people in modern society and it can be easy to make the wrong turns. Our work addresses the choices that we make and the consequences that follow. Newfound and Reformed have worked together on various projects in the past for schools, youth groups, housing associations and other services. Our work has been extremely successful in deterring young people from becoming involved in crime. We are unique in that, through our work we are able to offer the young people not only a powerful performance but real life stories from individuals who have been involved in crime and the consequences they faced when they were caught.

Re-Formed was set up by sisters Kemi & Tasha to offer mentoring and educational workshops to young people based upon their own life experiences of being involved in crime from an early age. Their work looks at stereotypes, the way any young person can become involved in crime and how easy it is to slide into more serious crimes. They also look at the reality of prison and expose common misconceptions that young people have.

Our workshop will educate young people about the true concequences of crime and help the young people understand that crime doesn't pay.
